Plums are divided into four main groups: European, Japanese, damson, and native American varieties. European plums are small to medium oval fruits with very sweet, dense flesh, which are very good for baking, poaching, and for eating fresh. FRENCH PRUNE PLUMS are also known as SUGAR PLUMS, and are a perfect example of the European group. About the size of a large walnut, and very sweet, FRENCH PRUNE PLUMS are the best eating plums we've seen all winter. Try baking a FRENCH PRUNE PLUM Kuchen or a FRENCH PRUNE PLUM Tart.
