Cara Cara Pink Navel Orange *L*S*
The CARA CARA Navel Orange (also known as the Red or Pink Navel) is probably the result of a cross between Washington and Brazilian Bahia navels, according to Allen Susser's The Great Citrus Book. This picture does not do the fruit justice. The pulp is actually more the color of a ruby grapefruit, not nearly as orange as it looks in here. Attributed to the Hacienda de Cara Cara in Valencia, Venezuela, the CARA CARA's flavor is low acid and sweet, and has more depth and richness than that of the traditional Navel. Locally grown by a sustainable farmer.
